Ayanna just partnered with Senator Elizabeth Warren to introduce legislation that would require federal police officers and prison officials to provide immediate care to people in their custody who require medical attention.
The Andrew Kearse Accountability for Denial of Medical Care Act is named after Andrew Kearse — a 36 year old Black man — who died in the back of a police car of a heart attack, even after begging the police officer for help.
