Stand Up Republic

Hi John,

The protests that have spread across the nation over the last few weeks are sparking serious questions for many Americans about what it means to support liberty and equality. People are rightly wondering how we as a country can come together to strengthen our commitment to the ideals of freedom, and better honor the promises of our Constitution to all people. Those answers are difficult to find, but the first step is listening and conversation.

That’s why Stand Up Republic organized a video townhall for  black principled conservatives to talk about racial injustice in America. Joe Pinion, Shermichael Singleton and Tara Setmayer joined SUR Executive Directors Evan McMullin and Mindy Finn to answer questions from participants about racism in America and ways to create a more just and equal society.

Hundreds of Americans from across the country joined in the town hall to ask their questions and hear the answers, but I wanted to make sure you had a chance to watch it yourself, and share with your friends and family.

The full video is available here.

This is a critical conversation for us to have, and it’s just the start. We need more conversations and more honest discussions about the way forward. America has never been a perfect nation. But it’s greatest strength is the ability of its people to change the country for the better, together. That’s what this great experiment in human freedom has always been about: empowering us to create a more perfect union. That’s our great gift, and our great duty.

I hope you’ll be a part of this and future conversations as we all stand up for a country that better honors its core principles of liberty, equality and truth.
