Join Women In International Security (WIIS) and the Embassy of Liechtenstein for a panel on Perspectives of the UN at 75 on June 24th at 10:30 AM ETThis panel will examine the successes and failures of the UN over the past 75 years and how best to move forward. We will focus on a range of current issues including: gender equality, climate change, health and security.

Covid-19 Webinar Series: Global Crisis, Global Risk and Global Consequences. Session 11: Impact of the Covid-19 on Latin America

Online Webinar June 11, 2 pm - 3:15 pm (Geneva Time)

While it is too soon to analyse the broader consequences of COVID-19, this webinar episode will provide an overview of the initial economic and security impact of the pandemic on Latin America at the national, urban and individual level. Panellists will cover a range of issues, from geo-economics, development and informal economies to urban violence, drug trafficking & financial flows, and domestic violence. The webinar will focus not only on the current situation but also the expected economic and security outlook as the situation evolves, as well as a discussion of potential approaches for mitigation.

Ms Mónica Méndez Caballero, a global security analyst and NGS 2019 fellow, is a panelist for this event.

New America - Call for Policy Essays!

New America has opened a two-month call for policy essays aimed at bringing new approaches, not even necessarily from inside the foreign/security policy field, to security challenges, broadly defined. We are hoping to get innovative, specific ideas from people who might not see themselves as insiders, or who would normally perceive that their ideas are too unusual to get an op-ed slot in a traditional publication.
