Hello Friend -

As we speak, Senator Inhofe is chairing a Senate Armed Services Committee meeting where they are writing the National Defense Authorization Act. It’s the biggest bill of the year and the most important because it makes sure our troops have the training and equipment they need to complete the mission and return home safe.

It’s not an easy job. Our military was obliterated during the Obama administration. During his last five years in office, he cut defense spending by 25 percent, while China and Russia were beefing their militaries up. Sen. Inhofe knows the consequences of that -- and it’s one of the main reasons he’s running for reelection.

You won’t see this hearing on TV because it is classified, but I wanted to drop you a note to let you know what he’s working on and how this bill gets us one step closer to President Trump and Senator Inhofe’s shared goal of rebuilding our military.

Sometimes these meetings go well into the night, but as soon as I’m able, I’ll let you know how things go.

The stakes are high. After the bill is approved by Sen. Inhofe’s committee and the full Senate, Inhofe will have to go toe to toe with Nancy Pelosi’s liberal House of Representatives to get them to agree with what we need to do to defend America--so his bill needs to be as strong as possible. Many liberal House Members would like nothing more than to cut defense spending like President Obama did to pay for social programs.

But as Inhofe said before, “I’d stop that with my dying breath.”
