I woke up bruised and with a gun held to my head. I was later told that after they stomped me, those police officers tear-gassed both myself and the woman I was trying to help directly.”
my candidacy. What we are experiencing right now isn’t a moment—it’s a movement. Our experiences on the streets right here in Missouri’s 1st District have never been more relevant, and once again people all over the country—and all over the world—are watching us.
The media is finally paying attention to our race, which we welcome as we strive to get our message out to every voter. Unfortunately, that means our opponents will also be watching more closely than ever.
Like I said in my piece:
"We need activists in Congress—not just one, or two, or ten, but an
entire generation of activists. We have been through so much. We can’t quit. We can't slow down. Now is not the time for incremental change. Incremental change means more people will die.”
