Currently, over 50,000 combat-disabled veterans who were medically retired are being denied the full benefits they earned because they also qualify for disability compensation. These are two separate benefits both earned through sacrifice and service, and one should never cancel out the other. To fix this, I cosponsored the Major Richard Star Act, a bipartisan bill that ensures our medically retired veterans receive both their retirement pay and disability benefits in full.
