Hi there!

It’s Chrissy -- Chrissy Houlahan, member of Congress from Pennsylvania's sixth congressional district. Our district is just outside of Philly -- the City of Brotherly Love and Rocky’s hometown. We are not only lovers of humanity but also fierce fighters.

I never thought I would run for Congress, but I was compelled to do so after the 2016 election. I now go to work in Congress every single day to try to create opportunities and protect our freedoms with Pennsylvania families in mind.

I’ll start with my own story.

I grew up a product of the American Dream. Mine is a story that could only happen in America. My father is a Holocaust survivor who came here with his widowed mother when he was a child, and later served as a Captain in the U.S. Navy. Because of his Navy service, I grew up in half a dozen states and attended twice that many schools. Despite all that turbulence, my parents always emphasized education and the opportunities a good education could provide.

Thanks to the opportunities and values they provided me, I was able to attend college on an ROTC scholarship and have since had a career that included service in the U.S. Air Force, growing and running three small businesses, and working as an educator. My husband, Bart, and I have also raised fiercely independent young women.

My story is who I am and why I fight for our democratic values and issues, and I would love to hear yours. I believe that if you're going to represent someone, you have to get out and listen!

Unfortunately, many Republicans in Congress have lost touch with the simple idea of good governance and speaking up for what is right. But hopefully, we can bring that back with this new session.
