Dear John,
More than 600,000 individuals are released from prison every year, yet there are few state and no federal systems in place to make sure they can get the fundamental documents they need to rejoin society , rebuild their lives, and claim their right to vote.
VoteRiders helps to meet that need. We work with partner organizations and directly with returning individuals to help them get the documents and ID they need to secure housing, employment, health care, and vote.
During Second Chances Month, read more about our work with returning citizens — folks who need a little extra support to rebuild their lives rooted in dignity and belonging.

“My new ID is kind of like my freedom papers,” says Willie, a formerly incarcerated voter VoteRiders helped obtain a free ID.
“Now, if I go somewhere and have to present my identification, I’m not automatically judged for being someone who has made mistakes. It gives me the confidence to know that I’m a citizen again. I’m a free citizen.”
Read more about this important part of VoteRiders’ work, and spread the word to anyone you may know who needs ID information or assistance. >> [link removed]
