Mining disasters in 2015 and 2019 killed hundreds and polluted hundreds of miles of rivers in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Mining company Vale made commitments to improve safety and human rights after that. But the extent of Vale’s ongoing irresponsible behavior remains shrouded in a cloud of misinformation.
