The local elections will take place a week tomorrow and it will be the first major test for parties since the General Election.

The way the polls are looking, we can expect major Conservative losses and Nigel Farage’s party to make major gains at their expense.

Kemi Badenoch has failed to make an impact for the party. Arguably, she’s left the door wide open for these Farage gains.

Let’s be clear: Leading on 31% in the polls, squeezing the Conservatives out, and building crucial campaign infrastructure across the UK, Nigel Farage is on track to become Prime Minister at the next General Election.

That’s terrifying.

If we don’t build to fight back now, it’ll be too late. That means fixing the cracks in our democracy which he’s exploiting for his own personal gain. Fixing our voting system, eliminating dark money, and combatting the spread of dark money.

Personally, as someone in my twenties, the last thing I want is the rest of my life to be dictated by Nigel Farage and his hateful brand of politics.

If history has taught us anything, you don’t beat the far-right by fighting them on their own battlefield. We will beat them by fixing our democracy and taking away their weapons.
