Change cannot wait.

For too long, police brutality and racial injustice have taken the lives of black and brown Americans, devastating families and entire communities in their wake.

The tragic deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery have led to peaceful protests across our country. Demonstrators are demanding better from our country.

Change cannot wait any longer.

As former Vice President Joe Biden wrote in an op-ed for the Los Angeles Times, we all have a role to play in the fight for justice:

“Black and brown communities must no longer be the only ones to bear the weight of pushing for change. No one can stay silent. No one can ignore injustice.” - Joe Biden

I’m proud to be one of the original co-sponsors for a new measure that would institute the most sweeping police reforms our country has seen in decades.

SIGN OUR OPEN LETTER: TELL MCCONNELL TO TAKE ACTION TO END POLICE BRUTALITY >>

This important plan would:

  • Ban chokeholds and create a national standard for use of force
  • Create a National Police Misconduct Registry to prevent bad actors from switching departments
  • End the use of no-knock warrants in drug cases
  • Make lynching a federal crime

John, there isn’t one easy or simple fix. There is still work to be done, but this is an important and necessary first step toward real progress.

Progress requires a grassroots movement pushing it forward. So please sign our open letter and demand Majority Leader McConnell take action to end police brutality and racial injustice in our communities.

Thank you,

TC
