Warned by a slew of economists that firing Powell could send the US economy into freefall, the wannabe dictator suddenly changed his tune, laughably explaining that "the press runs away with things" and that he has no plans whatsoever to oust Powell from his post. Masterfully played, sir!

But Donald did tell reporters on Tuesday that he now planned to be "very nice" to China in trade talks and that tariffs could drop in both countries if they could reach a deal. We realize this sounds like a fool's errand right now with the GOP controlling both chambers of Congress, but the legislative branch cannot wrestle tariff policy away from the executive branch fast enough. That one worm-addled man can wield this much power over the world economy and essentially change tax policy from day to day like it's a necktie is beyond comprehension.

Three years ago, Medicare contractor Centene overbilled the state of Florida by $67 million, leading to a lawsuit and repayment. Except $10 million of that money didn't go back into state coffers — it went to a charity, the Hope Florida Foundation, which is conveniently run by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis' wife, Casey DeSantis. That $10 million was then sent to two dark-money "nonprofit" organizations and eventually found its way to a political committee overseen by DeSantis’ chief of staff. Medicare fraud and Florida Republicans, name a more iconic duo.

Judge castigates Trump administration for "bad faith" in Abrego Garcia's deportation case
A federal judge said Tuesday that the Trump administration is ignoring court orders, obstructing the legal process and acting in "bad faith" by refusing to provide information about the steps they have taken, if any, to free a mistakenly deported Maryland man from a notorious El Salvador prison and return him to the US. "For weeks, Defendants have sought refuge behind vague and unsubstantiated assertions of privilege, using them as a shield to obstruct discovery and evade compliance with this Court’s orders," US District Judge Paula Xinis wrote an the order Tuesday. "Defendants have known, at least since last week, that this Court requires specific legal and factual showings to support any claim of privilege. Yet they have continued to rely on boilerplate assertions. That ends now."
