Tom McClintock said that right now, the country should be solely focused on the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But then after voting against bipartisan COVID-19 relief legislation, he advocated for the distribution of millions of relief dollars to giant oil companies -- all located out-of-district. Those funds should be going to small businesses, to hospitals, and workers who are hurting in our community.

What’s more galling is that McClintock has received over $245,000 in campaign funds from the oil and gas industry.

This is not okay. We can’t have a representative bought and sold by corporate interests -- especially in the midst of a pandemic that caused one of the highest rates of unemployment ever.

For far too long, we’ve had a hypocritical representative. It may be harsh, but it’s the truth.

And it’s not just this one case.

McClintock also took a state pension after pushing for the proposition that abolished pensions for California state legislators -- but guess who was grandfathered in?

That’s right: himself. It’s clear that Tom McClintock isn’t looking out for his constituents as much as he is his own political fortunes and personal gain.

He can be influenced by special interests, and he puts himself over the good of the district. That’s something Brynne Kennedy would never do.
