John,
GREAT news from our elections last night: Rosemary Ketchum WON her race and is now the first openly trans person elected in West Virginia!! When Rosemary takes her seat on the Wheeling City Council, she'll be one of just four out LGBTQ elected officials in all of West Virginia. Her victory shows that trans people can run and WIN everywhere. Help us elect more trans candidates to city councils and state legislatures in 2020 with a contribution of $20.20 or more!
Here's what we know from our Georgia races: our five incumbents and two non-incumbents, Julie Jordan and Marvin Lim, have won their primaries and will appear on the ballot in November! But we're still waiting to see if Kim Jackson will need to compete in a runoff before she makes history as Georgia's first state Senator.
If you haven't seen the headlines from Georgia, the news is horrendous. We saw the cost of voter suppression in real time. Voters were forced to wait in line for hours, if not the better part of the day. Even though the polls closed at 8pm ET, voters in pro-equality districts were still in line at MIDNIGHT. Poll workers were under-prepared and under-trained by the Secretary of State's office, allowing confusion and delays to muck up the process.
Here's what's on the line: these state legislative races will have huge implications in November. Our candidates can turn out pro-equality voters for their own races. And when more pro-equality voters hit the polls, more pro-equality candidates win. People who vote in these state legislative races could swing Georgia’s two Senate races and help swing Georgia for the Presidential race. And as we saw last night, the anti-equality Governor and Sectary of State in Georgia aren't going to make things easy. We have to be ready for whatever comes next and provide our candidates with the resources they need to win. Donate today.
We’ve got a lot of tough fights ahead of us. Georgia is a negative equality state, meaning they have few bills that protect LGBTQ people and LGBTQ families, but bigots are terrified they’ll lose big on Election Day. We have to fight back and we need your help to win. To flip the Georgia legislature and make LGBTQ history, we need all hands on deck. Chip in today.
Thanks again for your support -

LGBTQ Victory Fund has helped thousands of openly LGBTQ candidates win elections up and down the ballot, from sea to shining sea since our founding in 1991. We believe representation is power so we elected U.S. Senators Tammy Baldwin and Kyrsten Sinema, Governors Jared Polis and Kate Brown, all seven LGBTQ members of U.S. Congress and countless candidates for state and local government, including Virginia Delegate Danica Roem, Colorado state Representative Leslie Herod and Pennsylvania Assemblymember Brian Sims. And with an unprecedented number of LGBTQ people running for office in this year, we’ll need your support to make 2020 the next Rainbow Wave.
