After years of unlawful wastewater pollution from two of Maryland’s largest treatment plants, our office has secured a $1.7 million green investment in 21 community-led environmental projects to help keep our communities safe and clean.
We’re already starting to see some incredible progress. Nitrogen pollution at the Back River treatment plant has decreased by more than 60%, and at the Patapsco treatment plant, it has decreased by over 78%.
