It's hard to avoid plastic while shopping. Almost everybody has had the experience of ordering something from Amazon, only to open a delivery full of excessive plastic padding and packaging.

With at least 16 million deliveries every day -- each packed up in paper and plastic -- Amazon is a prime example of a company that produces a lot of waste.3 By one estimate, Amazon's shipments generated enough plastic waste in just one year to encircle the Earth in plastic air pillows 800 times.4

But at PIRG, we're working to unwrap the Earth from plastic -- and winning. Thanks in part to our campaign calling on the company, Amazon has replaced the plastic air pillows from deliveries in North America with recyclable alternatives.5
