Hi John,
This Earth Day, we invite you to meet the women leading change at the nexus of climate justice and reproductive justice in Nepal.
One of the world’s most climate-vulnerable countries, Nepal’s landscape is both stunning and fragile. Earthquakes, flash floods, and prolonged droughts are destroying crops, washing out roads, and pushing health care farther away.
When water runs out, girls bathe in rivers without privacy. When landslides hit, pregnant women walk hours to reach care. But these women are not waiting for help—they’re taking action here and now.
Through the Natural Leaders program, Ipas Nepal trains local women to drive solutions that address climate change and reproductive health barriers from within their communities. These grassroots leaders are not outsiders, they are trusted neighbors and friends. They educate on safe abortion and contraception, lead climate-smart initiatives like reforestation and waste reduction, and break harmful gender norms that have gone unchallenged far too long.
