Today is Earth Day – a time to celebrate our planet and recommit to
protecting the lands, waters, and natural resources that sustain us.

For me, this fight is personal.

My ancestors came to the high desert of New Mexico and kick-started a
thriving agricultural tradition. I grew up fishing with my dad and running
through the mesas with my cousins. It was there I learned what it means to
be a steward of the Earth and to care for our land, wildlife, and natural
resources – not just for ourselves, but for the generations to come.

As Secretary of the Interior, I carried that lesson with me every day. And
I’m proud that over four years, we helped protect more lands and waters
than any administration in U.S. history while also creating good jobs in
clean energy, conservation, and cleaning up legacy pollution.

But now, all of that progress is at risk.

Donald Trump and Elon Musk are scheming to auction our public lands to the
highest bidder. They have worked to gut environmental protections and sell
off sacred lands. They even tried to fire our dedicated National Parks and
National Forests workers.

Governors are a critical line of defense against the Trump agenda,
especially when it comes to standing up against the attacks on our
environment. And as governor, I will be a fierce defender of our home, but
I can’t win without your support.

[ [link removed] ]That’s why, this Earth Day, I’m asking you to chip in $5
to help power our grassroots campaign and protect New Mexico’s land,
water, and future.
