Hi John,

As your representative in Raleigh, I’m focused on delivering results that reflect the values of our rural communities — faith, family, freedom, and a government that works for the people. From protecting innocent life to honoring our national motto, supporting skilled workers, and strengthening emergency response efforts, we’re moving forward on legislation that puts North Carolina first.

In this update, you’ll find highlights of the work we’re doing to support families, modernize services, and defend what matters most. My door is always open — please don’t hesitate to reach out if I can be of assistance.

At your service,
Ben

Representative Ben T. Moss, Jr.
North Carolina General Assembly

** LEGISLATIVE WEEK IN REVIEW
------------------------------------------------------------
Here in the NC House, we’re focused on delivering results that matter to working families and rural communities.

Last week, we moved forward on legislation that protects our students, supports our veterans, and modernizes state services — without growing government or adding burdens to taxpayers.

I’m proud to represent the hardworking people of Richmond and Moore Counties and will keep fighting for infrastructure, opportunity, and a government that respects your freedom.

** HUMAN LIFE PROTECTION ACT
------------------------------------------------------------
I’m sponsoring the Human Life Protection Act of 2025 ([link removed]) to protect the most vulnerable among us — unborn children — from the moment of conception. This bill reflects our commitment to preserving life while making critical exceptions when a mother’s life is in danger. North Carolina values life, and we must lead with both compassion and courage.

** FOR GOD & COUNTRY...
------------------------------------------------------------

I recently had the honor of presenting and passing two meaningful bills, which both passed on the House floor:

🙏🏼 HB 16 ([link removed]) – to display “In God We Trust” above the dais in both chambers of the General Assembly, honoring our national motto and the values that guide our service.

🇺🇸 HB 236 ([link removed]) – to recognize the Freedom Flag as a symbol of remembrance for those we lost on 9/11 and authorize its display each September 11 across North Carolina.

Proud to stand for faith, freedom, and the principles that unite us.

** RESPIRATORY CARE MODERNIZATION ACT
------------------------------------------------------------

Earlier this month, the NC House passed my bill, the Respiratory Care Modernization Act (HB 71 ([link removed]) ), with overwhelming bipartisan support (113-4). This legislation updates our laws to reflect the advanced training and critical role of respiratory therapists. I’m proud to strengthen patient care across North Carolina. Onward to the Senate!

** NEIGHBOR STATE LICENSE RECOGNITION ACT
------------------------------------------------------------
[link removed]

I'm proud to sponsor HB 763 ([link removed]) – the Neighbor State License Recognition Act – to help skilled workers get to work faster in North Carolina. Cutting red tape means more jobs, more opportunity, and a stronger economy across our state.

** NC SEARCH & RESCUE ADVISORY COUNCIL
------------------------------------------------------------

I recently had the privilege of attending the North Carolina Search & Rescue Advisory Council meeting — right here in Hamlet. I was honored to be recognized, but I was mainly there to listen and learn more about this vital, yet often underutilized, resource our state has.

As our population grows and challenges like dementia and Alzheimer’s increase, the need for coordinated, efficient search and rescue efforts becomes even more critical. It was great to see so many dedicated professionals from across our state — including the State Highway Patrol, SBI, and SARS teams — coming together to collaborate.

Thank you to everyone involved in this important work. You are truly making a difference.

** LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
