Happy Earth Day, John — it’s Valerie Foushee
This Earth Day, I’m thinking about our commitment to protecting our planet so that our future generations can live with clean air, water, and safety from climate disasters.
From the gorgeous trees and waterfalls of the Great Smokey Mountains to the sandy beaches and islands of the Outer Banks, these natural landscapes bring beauty and jobs to the Tar Heel State — and we MUST protect them from climate change.
But we’re all seeing what’s happening.
Extreme weather patterns are causing hurricanes and flooding that are destroying North Carolina’s homes and national parks. Rising sea levels and erosion are threatening public infrastructure and changing our coastlines and natural ecosystems.
That’s why in Congress, I’m doing everything I can to address climate change. Will you sign my personal petition if you’re with me in this fight?
As a member of the Sustainable Energy & Environment Coalition, I’m fighting to strengthen environmental protection laws and protect agencies like FEMA that help North Carolina prepare and recover from climate disasters.
As a member of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, I’m working to build sustainable energy infrastructure and invest in green transportation.
But with Trump going all out to undermine environmental protections and slash funding for climate disaster relief, we need to go ALL OUT to stop this disaster of an administration. So in the spirit of Earth Day, will you sign my petition to demand Congress to address climate change and protect our communities from disasters like hurricanes?
We’ll never give up on fighting for a safer, cleaner, and sustainable future for our kids and grandkids. Our families are always worth fighting for.
Thank you,
Valerie Foushee
