Hi John --
We've been thinking a lot lately about how we can channel our efforts and our program into electing anti-racist leaders into positions of power so they can make meaningful progress on combating structural racism, rooting out white supremacy from our institutions, and especially important right now, ending police brutality against Black people.
While a whole lot of energy is rightfully directed at replacing our current racist president, we're seeing right now exactly how much power state and local officials have to make our neighborhoods safer for Black people and other minority communities. To that end, today, I'm asking you to -- if you're in a position to do so -- make a contribution to one of the two following efforts.
95% of prosecutors in the United States are white. Collective PAC's Justice for All Fund will help recruit, train, and support Black judicial, prosecutorial and attorney general candidates as well as advocate for reforms in community policing. Chip in today:
Elected sheriffs have a long history of violence against communities of color. The Black Male Voter Project in Georgia, the Dream Defenders Action Fund in Florida, United Fort Worth in Texas, and the Working Families Party all organize on the frontlines to protect communities that are violently targeted, and are mobilizing voters for 2020 elections, which will be one of many steps towards building a system in which no one is killed by sheriffs or police. Make a donation that will be split across all four groups:
Thank you for all that you do,
Amanda
