*Earth Day Lighting Upgrades Create Safer, More Welcoming Courtrooms* 





In celebration of *Earth Day* on April 22, 2025, the Minnesota Department of Administration and the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) are announcing energy-efficient lighting upgrades in the Stassen Building, located in downtown St. Paul. 

New LED lighting installations are underway throughout the building, including in OAH’s courtrooms and offices. These upgrades will not only reduce energy use and operational costs—they will also create a more accessible and supportive environment for people who use the courts. 

The softer, more natural light provided by the improved lighting helps reduce sensory stress, promotes feelings of safety and calm in courtroom settings. Newly installed dimmer switches will also help the court meet the needs of people with disabilities more effectively and efficiently. 

*Project Timeline:* 


* "1st Floor Courtroom lighting upgrades": April 21 – May 5 

* "2nd Floor (offices) lighting upgrades": May 19 – June 23  

Work will occur weekdays between *6:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m.* to avoid disruption to regular business hours.
