Right now, Democratic Reps. Maxwell Frost (FL), Yassamin Ansari (AZ), Robert Garcia (CA), and Maxine Dexter (OR) are on the ground in El Salvador demanding the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia — a legal U.S. resident Donald Trump deported in direct defiance of a Supreme Court order.
They courageously went even though House Republicans flat‑out refused to authorize an official trip to El Salvador. A Republican Chair even sneered, “I will not approve a single dime of taxpayer funds.”
Last week, Sen. Chris Van Hollen opened the door — refusing to take no for an answer and finally meeting with Kilmar face‑to‑face in El Salvador. Now, Frost, Ansari, Garcia, and Dexter are driving through it from the House side.
Kilmar’s case is crystal‑clear: a Supreme Court order says he must be returned. Trump, ICE, and El Salvador’s strong‑man president are defying that order — testing how far they can go in disappearing people.
MAXWELL FROST: "Donald Trump and ICE are not above the law. Today it’s Kilmar, but tomorrow it could be anyone else. We cannot and will not let Donald Trump get away with this."
YASSAMIN ANSARI: "Trump has already threatened to illegally deport ‘home-growns’ and American citizens. If this can happen to Mr. Abrego Garcia, it can happen to any of us. This is a constitutional crisis."
Kilmar’s family says, "We’re deeply grateful to the members of Congress and advocates for justice now on the ground in El Salvador, building on the leadership of Senator Van Hollen. We are particularly concerned about Kilmar's health and hope to receive news about that from the visit. Their presence sends a powerful message: the fight to bring Kilmar home isn’t over."
Thanks for fighting for our country.
