Hi there John – Matt Meyer here, newly elected Governor of Delaware, with an important message for you.

Ten years ago, I was a sixth and seventh grade math teacher in Wilmington. But it doesn’t take a math teacher to tell you that the numbers aren’t adding up right now.

Here's the bottom line: Eliminating the Department of Education hurts our kids and it hurts our economy.

While Washington is preoccupied with destruction, I’m focusing on the education and the livelihoods of the people of my state. And I’m not alone. Democratic governors across the country are defending their states from blatant attacks by the Trump administration, Elon Musk, and the Republican trifecta.

John, I'm a teacher who got into this business because I believed our kids and their families deserve better.

But these cuts spearheaded by Donald Trump and Elon Musk will reverberate indefinitely – from Main Street to Wall Street to Sesame Street – and weaken the foundation of our workforce.

When these cuts take effect, your kindergartner may lose their favorite teacher. Your middle schooler could lose their favorite after school program. Your high schooler may lose the extra help they need to achieve their goals. Your college student might even lose their student loan.

It’s becoming increasingly clear that Donald Trump and Elon Musk are willing to cut services at the expense of our kids and their families – while making sure more of your tax dollars go to lining the pockets of billionaires and millionaires. All at the direct expense of our children's future.

But Democratic governors like myself aren’t going to take these extreme cuts lying down. Across the country, we’re answering the call and fighting tooth and nail to protect our children’s education.

It’s going to take all of us coming together – including you, John – to fight for what’s right. So I'm asking personally: Will you please donate $3, $6, or whatever you can afford to the DGA today?
