President Trump’s barrage of sweeping executive orders have broad implications for the federal government, higher education, business, and other institutions. And they also affect you and your family.
To help make sense of these sweeping edicts, LDAD is launching an important new series, published in the Fulcrum, to explain the authoritarian roots of these orders in Project 2025, how they fit within an overall plan to dismantle democracy, and how they will have direct impacts on individuals.

LDAD is deeply grateful for the brilliant volunteers who have worked so hard to shape this project and develop content that brings to light the significance of what is happening to our government: CUNY School of Law Professor Emeritus Julie Goldscheid; Georgetown University Law Center Professor Mitt Regan; and former Associate Justice of the New York Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of the state of New York, Rosalyn Richter.
LDAD has also filed an amicus brief in support of Jenner & Block LLP’s lawsuit opposing President Trump’s issuance of an Executive Order that strikes at the very heart of the independence of the legal profession. Previously, LDAD filed an amicus in support of Perkins Coie.
As the amicus describes, the President seeks to “condition law firms’ ability to practice law and serve their clients on the President’s approval of their conduct.” This presidential edict against Jenner, along with other law firms, has been part of an overall effort to intimidate and control the legal profession, punishing firms for their past conduct and preventing future representation adverse to the President or even the federal government.
In filing this amicus, LDAD continues to take measures to stand up for the integrity of the legal system and the legal profession’s fundamental right to represent clients and issues without interference from the government.
