The housing crisis is one of the biggest challenges young people face right now.
John, the housing crisis is one of the biggest challenges young people face right now, and we still have cities and states that are dragging their feet on doing something about it.
My family personally experienced the effects of this. When I was a kid we left California for Florida because the cost of living became ridiculously high. And now young people all over the country are delaying getting married, having kids, and starting families because it’s just not financially possible.
That’s why I am never going to shut up about how much other cities need to follow the lead of Democrats in Austin on zoning reform.
Austin has made more moves to make housing affordable and reduce homelessness than any city in America has in the past decade. They have enabled the building of so much housing and grown the number of rental units so significantly that rents in the city are DOWN 22% from 2023:

We need more leaders on city councils, in state legislatures, and in Congress who see how successful Austin has been on this issue and will look to replicate their success in other cities.
More than anything, we need younger leaders at all levels of government who have actually experienced the challenges young people are facing today, and who feel a sense of urgency to do something about it.
That’s why Leaders We Deserve exists. We’ve already elected young leaders to state legislatures and Congress from all over the country, and we have even bigger plans this cycle – but we can’t do any of our work without your support.
So John, if you’re ready to elect young leaders who will actually tackle our country’s biggest challenges head-on, please pitch in $5 to support Leaders We Deserve today. We truly appreciate every dollar you give.
