Dear friend,
We've made a movie—and we want you to see it first.
FAMM and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) are hosting a virtual screening and panel discussion of our new documentary, "The Vanishing Trial"—and we want you to join us.

"The Vanishing Trial" takes a deep dive into the "trial penalty," a particularly insidious part of our criminal justice system. The film focuses on four individuals forced to make the excruciating choice between pleading guilty or going to trial. At astonishingly high rates, going to trial—a constitutional right—can incur a substantially longer prison sentence than if someone pleads guilty. "The Vanishing Trial" explores how the trial penalty has eroded individual rights and led to an explosion in America's prison population.
The screening will be followed by a virtual panel discussion on Monday, June 15, at 7:00 p.m. FAMM will be joined by Vanita Gupta (Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights), Brittany K. Barnett (Buried Alive Project), Clark Neily (Cato Institute), and Norman Reimer (NACDL).
