Last week, more than 1,500 domestic workers — nannies, housecleaners, and care workers — came together from across the country to strategize, celebrate, and build the future of our movement at our We Power Care 2025 National Assembly.
And thanks to supporters like you, they didn’t walk into that space alone.
At the center of the Assembly was the Power Capsule —a collection of messages, memories, and mementos from our community , sealed to be opened five years from now. The Power Capsule gave workers a chance to reflect on how far we’ve come, recognize the power we’ve built together, and strategize about how we carry our shared vision forward.
Your messages were collected for workers [[link removed]] to read, absorb, and carry with them in the weeks, months, and years ahead. And when we gather again in five years, we’ll open the Power Capsule , revisit those messages together, and see how far we’ve come .
Here’s just a glimpse of the powerful messages you shared:
Caregiving is important and essential work, and I am grateful for every loving thing done for my parents, who passed away after 73 years of marriage. Caregivers were a blessing during two very difficult times in our lives.
— Julie K. Domestic workers are unsung heroes of the workforce. You make our lives easier, and we cannot forget that. You deserve respect — both as humans and for the jobs you do.
— Lisa N. Many years from now if you read this, know there will always be people fighting for domestic workers. Never lose hope — and no matter what, always keep pushing for greater things.
— Jazmin R.Domestic workers — most of whom are women of color and immigrants — are the foundation of our care system. Despite this, they face low wages, lack of benefits, and exclusion from the basic protections other workers take for granted. And yet, they keep showing up — with their skill, resilience, and deep commitment to the families and communities they care for.
That’s why it matters when you show up for them — by sharing a message, taking action, and standing in solidarity. Every act of support helps strengthen this movement and makes it clear: care workers are not alone.
Our movement is a force, and we are building power that can't be denied. From historic victories in state legislatures to federal battles for fundamental rights, we're not just asking for change — we're making it.
The Power Capsule is more than a snapshot of this moment; it's a living testament to the people, the values, and the vision that will continue to drive this movement forward. Thanks for adding your voice to it. And thanks for all that you do.

The majority of domestic workers sit at the center of some of our nation’s most decisive issues because of who they are and what they do: they are women – mostly women of color, immigrants, mothers, and low-wage workers. They are impacted by almost every policy affecting the future of our economy, democracy and country.
Domestic workers can lead us toward a new, inclusive vision for the future for all of us -- and your grassroots support is the fuel that can get us there.
