Hey folks, Congressman Sean Casten here.
I’ve proudly represented Illinois’ 6th Congressional District since 2019, after defeating a 7-term Republican incumbent who'd never held a single town hall.
I believe that all elected officials should hold themselves accountable to the voters who elected them. But recently, national Republicans are openly discouraging in-person town halls across the country.
If my Republican colleagues are too afraid of their constituents to talk to their constituents, then I’m happy to do it for them.
That's why I was excited to partner with the Illinois Democratic County Chairs' Association to host town halls in Republican-controlled areas.
The weekend before last, I traveled to Dixon and Carterville to talk with voters about issues that matter to them. I met with voters in Illinois' 12th & 16th districts who have never had an opportunity to ask questions and get answers from their Members of Congress.
I know a movement is building throughout Illinois and our country. The evidence was on display earlier this month during our municipal elections. I'm partnering with the IDCCA to help harness this energy to get good people elected. If you want to support their mission and ensure we’re supporting Democrats at every level right now, you can make a split contribution now between IDCCA and my re-election campaign.
Winning in 2026 and taking back the House will mean meeting folks where they are and listening to what's important to them. Once we take back the House, we’ll be able to go a step further and take real action on fixing those issues.
That’s something Republicans are failing to do in their attempt to cater to Trump and his extremism.
We can win at all levels in 2026, but it will mean a long term investment in building our Democratic Party. We know this strategy works, but IDCCA needs our grassroots resources to put it into action. Will you split a contribution right now between IDCCA and my re-election campaign so we can keep holding Republicans accountable?
Thanks for everything,
Sean Casten
