When I was a kid, reading this kind of headline would have been
unimaginable, John:
[ [link removed] ]Headline: Gay U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas announces Senate bid
Growing up as a gay person in New Hampshire, I never imagined I could live
openly — let alone run for U.S. Senate. But my community showed me what's
possible. You helped me win four times in one of the most competitive
congressional districts in the country.
We’ve made tremendous progress since I was younger. But there’s still
something we’ve never done. We’ve never elected a gay man to the Senate.
To be clear I’m not running for Senate just to make history. I’m in this
race for the people of New Hampshire – all of us. But the prospect of
moving the needle of progress forward is deeply meaningful to me.
This is an opportunity for representation in the Senate. It’s also
important that LGBTQ+ people have more seats at the table at a time when
our rights are coming under attack.
We can win this election for the people of New Hampshire, charting a path
forward for our shared future – and we can tear down barriers and make
history at the same time.
[ [link removed] ]Will you split a $10 contribution between my campaign and
Heartland Patriots right now to stand with me in this historic fight?
Thank you for supporting me in this campaign,
John. No matter who you are, who you love, who
you pray to, or where you're from — know that I'll always have your back.
With gratitude,
Chris
