Friend,
I was at a regional conference for librarians when I heard the quote
in the subject line from one of the keynote speakers…
I was shocked — mainly because the speaker wasn’t joking. He was
dead serious.
This is why I’m excited every day I get to lead SkyTree Book Fairs,
the nation’s leading alternative to Scholastic. Children need access
to wholesome literature that makes reading fun again without telling
them it’s _“okay to be half human and half cat!”_
A shocking new report by the National Literacy Trust (NLT) just
confirmed what we’ve all sensed: kids aren’t reading anymore!
* Just 1 in 3 kids say that they enjoy reading in their free time.
* Only 20.5% of children reported reading daily in their free time,
compared with 28% last year.
* This represents an 8.8% drop in children’s reading habits since
last year.
THE NUMBER OF CHILDREN WHO ENJOY READING HAS DROPPED TO ITS LOWEST
LEVEL IN ALMOST TWO DECADES.
_Why?_
Because too many books today focus on victimhood, mental health
disorders, confusing concepts like _“it’s okay to be half human
and half cat,”_ and even inappropriate sexual content — rather
than LETTING KIDS BE KIDS.
SkyTree Book Fairs is changing that.
Our book fairs bring uplifting, values-driven books directly into
schools so kids can discover wholesome stories about heroes, critical
thinkers, and problem-solvers.
As the President and CEO of SkyTree Book Fairs, I am on a mission to
give 150,000 students an incredible SkyTree Book Fair experience this
year. To make this happen, we need to urgently raise $50,000.
Your gift today will put the right books into the hands of kids who
need them. Will you step up and help?

Why is giving children inspiring books so important?
Children who read for just 20 minutes per day learn 1,800,000 words
per year and children who read for fun experience greater academic
achievement.
But with children’s enjoyment of reading at an all-time low and a
high number of students leaving school without the reading skills they
need to thrive, we are putting the futures of a generation at risk.
SKYTREE’S GUIDING PHILOSOPHY IS THAT EVERY CHILD — REGARDLESS OF
CIRCUMSTANCE OR SOCIOECONOMIC STATUS — DESERVES ACCESS TO QUALITY
LITERATURE.
We carefully screen every title in our collection to ensure they
contain no sexually explicit content or storylines that promote gender
confusion. The books found in SkyTree Book Fairs ignite the
imagination, teach courage, and inspire kids to become the leaders of
tomorrow.
Every dollar you give will help bring life-changing books into schools
and inspire kids to dream bigger, think deeper, and build a brighter
future for themselves.
