Despite what capitalism (specifically the wellness industrial complex) is selling us, healing is not addition. It's subtraction (thank you, Nikki Myers for this teaching :) We don't need more of this and that (insert endless wellness products and repackaged indigenous wisdom). Rather, we need to let go of all that we've internalized from the culture of separation, scarcity and supremacy.
By unearthing, what lurks in the shadows and what has been accumulated along the way, we can bring attention to all that needs to be acknowledged and healed. Only then, can we metabolize and transform that energy into new ways of being and doing.
Through the body, we are able to confront old and limiting stories and beliefs we carry in our tissues and bones, to disrupt and release default behavioral and response patterns, to question our attachment and addiction to the comforts promised by dominant culture (often in exchange for benefits and advantages), and to explore new ways of being and doing.
This is our sixth year (!) of hosting this home retreat and it feels more essential than ever. If we want to disrupt and dismantle the toxic systems all around us, we need to detox the toxic systems within us; then gently make space for others to do the same.
We're kicking off our annual DETOX HOME RETREAT this week (4/25 - 5/5) with some very juicy improvements to help us meet this moment with courage and grace INCLUDING:
1) daily LIVE movement practices with me to return to our bodies and build capacity and resilience for personal and collective healing
2) daily LIVE community support sessions with a focus on how we take the practice off the mat and into the world through relational practices and collective organizing.
