*LANSING, MICH. *The Michigan State Police (MSP) was honored to host a delegation last week of law enforcement leaders from the United Arab Emirates, who came to learn more about MSP’s training and operational capabilities.

Six members of the Abu Dhabi Police Special Patrols Department met with MSP personnel, toured the State Emergency Operations Center and watched demonstrations by MSP’s Special Operations Division and world-renowned Precision Driving Unit.

“By strengthening our partnerships with leaders from around the world, we can learn from each other and better serve the people,” said Governor Gretchen Whitmer. “Earlier this year, I had the chance to go to the United Arab Emirates, and I’m proud that members of the Abu Dhabi Special Patrols Department have now had a chance to visit Michigan. By working closely with the MSP, they have learned some of our best practices so they can more effectively serve their own communities back home. Let’s continue working together to protect public safety.”

“This visit was an opportunity for our agency to showcase our capabilities and training on an international level,” said Col. James F. Grady II, director of the MSP. “We are committed to working and collaborating with other agencies to ensure best practices for our residents in Michigan when it comes to public safety.”

The MSP Special Operations Division [ [link removed] ] offers many different services through its teams and units, including: Aviation Unit, Bomb Squad, Canine Unit, Emergency Support Team, Marine Services Unit, Tactical Bike Team and the Traffic Reconstruction Unit. The MSP Precision Driving Unit [ [link removed] ] provides driving instruction to law enforcement personnel from throughout the United States and Canada and is internationally recognized for the testing of pursuit-rated patrol cars through the Police Vehicle Evaluation and Purchasing Program.
