Dear John,

Now that we’ve made it through the merger, and Advocates for Trans Equality is established as a new, prominent institution fighting hard for trans equality, it’s time for me to take my next step.

When Andy and I began negotiating the merger, I committed to seeing it through. I’m proud that our vision has now been realized. A4TE has not just launched, but is fully up and running, delivering results for trans people around the country. With A4TE gaining momentum, I’m now ready to move on to my next chapter.

My last day will be April 30th. Andy Marra will stay on as CEO, and will continue to lead the organization forward.

Many of you may wonder where I am heading—I am committed to staying in the trans rights movement after A4TE. First, I’m going to take some much-needed time off – it’s been a long six years between revitalizing NCTE and co-creating A4TE. Then, I will be back in the movement, fighting shoulder-to-shoulder with so many of you, simply in a different capacity. Taking a step back from executive leadership, I will be focusing on changing hearts and minds. With my background in persuasion and messaging, it’s where I can make the biggest difference, and what I feel called to return to in this era of anti-trans backlash.

I couldn’t be prouder of what A4TE and I have accomplished together.

Together, we’ve brought trans voices from the margins to the center of political decision-making. Your support has been an essential part of that. Thank you for your dedication. I’m deeply grateful to have been part of this phenomenal team with you, and excited for what comes next.

I know this organization will go on leading the community during this hard time, and until we turn the tide back in trans people’s favor.
