For the first time in Virginia’s history, women now make up the majority of each Democratic caucus in the General Assembly. Because of this progress, we are closer than ever before to enshrining abortion in the state constitution. But the work is far from over. This November, we must keep up the momentum and elect more pro-abortion rights women who will continue to fight for our rights.

That is why today we are proud to announce that we are partnering with Her Bold Move, an organization focused on electing progressive, pro-women women into office in state legislatures across the country, including our home state of Virginia.

Like us, Her Bold Move endorses candidates and works to ensure that they have the support that they need to defeat their anti-choice opponents. This has never been more important: If pro-choice leadership remains in control of the House of Delegates and State Senate, the General Assembly will be able to once again vote on SJ 247 and HJ 1 – our amendment to enshrine abortion rights into the VA state constitution. If they pass our amendment a second time, it will proceed to the next stage – being placed on the ballot in November 2026 so that voters can have the final say in protecting abortion access for future generations.

By enshrining reproductive rights in the Virginia Constitution, we can ensure that every individual maintains control over their own body, health, and future, regardless of political changes.
