** Seychelles prohibits all corporal punishment of children!

The Children (Amendment) Act 2020 was adopted on 12 May 2020, fully prohibiting corporal punishment of children and giving all children in Seychelles “the same legal protection from assault as adults”. The Act was assented by the President on 19 May 2020 and is now in force.
This reform is the culmination of years of campaigning from civil society as well as an ongoing commitment of the Government, making Seychelles the 60th state worldwide - and the ninth African state - to realise children’s right to protection from all corporal punishment.
