Out of the $1.6 trillion the government distributes each year in Social Security benefits, just 0.00625% is lost to fraud. That’s a minuscule amount. For decades, strong oversight systems have been in place to safeguard these earned benefits—and they work.
The changes being pushed now won't solve real issues—but they will make it harder for people to get the help they need. Instead of investing in customer service or reducing wait times, the Trump team is expanding legal reviews that waste time and resources.
