Dear John, As we know, the Local Peace Economy is amplified by small acts of connection enacted and witnessed between community members. Community grows with these gifts of connection and abundance; interdependencies and relationship is woven into a net of support and care. How do we, individually, embody the knowledge of the need for community, a knowledge erased by the War Economy's siren song? How do we become a lighthouse for peace, a beacon that others might recognize as the way-finder through the Scylla and Charybdis of our political and ecological crises? The next LPE meeting on Wednesday, April 23rd, will center on this idea of being a lighthouse among the waves of turmoil and darkness of political climate. We've spoken about how the Local Peace Economy movement is like building an ark to weather the tidal wave of change at our door. But what does it mean to become a beacon of peace? Join us for this gathering on Wednesday, April 23rd at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT.
Also, remember: Mother’s Day is a Mother’s call for
Peace. This year CODEPINK's local activists
are going to bring the message of peace through an event on Mother’s
Day that embodies the peace economy. What will you do to bring
this movement to your community?

We hope to see you on April 23rd. With care, Jodie & Marie P.S. "If I Must Die," by Refaat Alareer If I must die, you must live to tell my story to sell my things to buy a piece of cloth and some strings, (make it white with a long tail) so that a child, somewhere in Gaza while looking heaven in the eye awaiting his dad who left in a blaze— and bid no one farewell not even to his flesh not even to himself— sees the kite, my kite you made, flying up above and thinks for a moment an angel is there bringing back love If I must die let it bring hope let it be a tale |
