John,
It’s been 26 years since the shooting at Columbine High School—where 12
students and one teacher were killed, 24 more were injured, and an entire
nation was shaken.
Since then, an entire generation has been born into a reality where active
school shooter drills are part of their everyday curriculum. Kids are
taught to “run, hide, fight” before they’re taught to write their names.
Gun violence is now the #1 cause of death for young people in America. One
in fifteen adults in this country has been at the scene of a mass
shooting.
This week alone, we witnessed mass shootings at Florida State University
and a high school in Dallas. This violence isn’t rare—it’s routine.
We’re done watching lawmakers side with the gun lobby while our
communities bleed.
Today, we send our love to the victims of Columbine and their families.
And we recommit to honoring them—not just with thoughts and prayers, but
with action.
Thank you for fighting alongside us,
John.
