Legislation was just introduced in the U.S. Senate to fast-track a wave of reckless logging projects and put millions of acres of forests at risk. And the U.S. House of Representatives has already passed a similar bill.1

They're even calling this legislation the Fix Our Forests Act, as if the way to "fix" a forest is to chop it down.

We need to mobilize grassroots opposition right now to stop the so-called Fix Our Forests Act from passing the U.S. Senate.

America's public lands are home to tens of millions of acres of our last mature and old-growth forests.

These forests provide critical wildlife habitat, clean drinking water for millions of Americans, and endless recreational opportunities, including fishing, hiking and camping. They should be preserved for the future, not handed over to commercial logging companies.

This bill would let the logging industry bypass environmental and endangered species reviews and cut down even more trees. It's being sold as a solution to wildfires, but removing the most mature, fire-resistant trees and leaving behind highly combustible debris could actually increase the risk of wildfires.2

Let's be clear: No one is more concerned about the deadly threat of wildfires than we are, and we've long supported science-based forest-management practices that will reduce wildfire risk.

But this bill isn't going to prevent wildfires. It's an attempt to fast-track logging projects that wouldn't otherwise pass scientific environmental reviews.

The result? More forest destruction, ruining wildlife habitat and cutting down the oldest and most resilient trees.3
