“A Stone’s Throw Away”
One night on the Mount of Olives,
A dozen men went out to pray.
Jesus knew no mercy was His,
Yet, He pled His case anyway.

He withdrew out past the men,
About a stone’s throw away.
He knelt down just beyond them,
And began to earnestly pray.

How far away is a stone’s throw?
It measures quite close at hand,
Just a short distance we know,
A few yards from another man.

Jesus poured out to God His heart.
His sweat became like bloody tears.
He knew all this from the start,
Yet, He lived life bearing His fears.

This was Jesus’ own assignment.
No one else could even try.
He did all this for our fulfillment,
Through it all, He never lied.

The sin of the whole world,
Is a very heavy burden.
Thoughts inside His mind just swirled,
Couldn’t there be some sort of pardon?

No, the price must be paid in full.
The Father does not barter.
The whole cup, not just a spoonful,
He drank for us, He’s the martyr.

He thought of you that night.
If He didn’t go through this pain,
You’d be lost without a fight,
And never saved from your shame.

Jesus prayed for me and you,
And made His final decision,
He went ahead to follow through,
And gain eternal provision.

Without Him we’d all be lost,
But now, we have a clear choice.
We can ignore Him, and the cost,
Or receive Him with heart and voice!

If you’ve done so, He’s with you now,
Living inside your loving heart.
His Holy Spirit shows you how,
To use all gifts He will impart.

If you have not yet responded,
He’s just a stone’s throw away!
Step aside, by prayer be bonded,
To ‘The One’ who made ‘The Way.’
