Today, with some version of Glass-Steagall bank separation back in
place, the financial system could be put though an orderly bankruptcy
where unbridled speculation could be checked, essential assets
protected, and credit again directed toward the actual production of
real physical goods and infrastructure. This would allow the United
States to join China, Russia and the Global South in launching the
greatest economic renaissance in human history.
