Hey, True Texans!
Happy Resurrection Sunday! You know, True Texas Project is not specifically a Christian organization per se, but I'm sure you recognize that our choices, our goals, and hopefully our witness all point to the One True King. Most of our participants and leaders are Believers, and if you're not, I know you at least ascribe to the teachings of Jesus because those are the teachings we promote. After all, the idea of self-governance came from the Bible itself!
So I titled this email, "Unashamed."
I am unashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and unashamed to declare to you resolutely that I am nothing while He is everything. I can do no good thing other than what He allows me to do. My good deeds are as filthy rags, and every good thing comes down from the Father.
I'm unashamed to stand behind the name True Texas Project when the media twists our words and actions to turn people against us. When evil people attack, it's not a big deal. When the media convinces good people to abandon us, it hurts. But I will not waiver, and I know most of you are the same.
I'm unashamed to call a spade a spade. If something needs to be called out, if an elected person needs to be held accountable, if a good deed needs to be praised -- I will use my voice. Even when it creates an awkward or uncomfortable moment and even when most remain silent, TTP will speak, because iron sharpens iron, and we strengthen each other in this way.
I'm unashamed to tell you we need you -- I need you. We need your financial support to keep things running. We need your emotional support as you have our backs when the attacks come. We need you to join us as we fight. We need you to simply show up when we host meetings and events so that we know we are not alone. Very often we feel alone. We need you.
I absolutely love being the CEO of this organization. It has been one of the biggest blessings of my life. It's exhausting. It's just so much, never-ending work. It's often defeating. But it is work worth doing, and it's easier to do it with you. Make no mistake, though, with or without you, this is God's work, and I choose to join Him where He is.
That's a quote I memorized in college and have carried with me my entire adult life. God will work with or without us, too. I want to be a part of that!
This month's episode features our partnered organizations as we review and strategize where we're at mid-session of the Texas legislature.
We've got Texans For Strong Borders, Texas Right To Life, Texas Family Project, Abolish Abortion TX, Texans For Vaccine Choice, Texans United For Reform & Freedom, and Texans For Fiscal Responsibility.
