From her time as one of the only black public finance lawyers in Alabama, when she delivered financing for new campus facilities at Alabama State University, Tuskegee University, and Stillman College, to her work as Congresswoman for Alabama’s 7th District, Terri Sewell has delivered results every step of the way. We wanted to make sure you saw Terri’s message about House Republicans’ latest outrageous attack on voting rights. They just pushed a bill through the House that would deprive tens of millions of Americans of the right to vote — and we must fight back. [[link removed]]

Check out Terri’s latest message below:

Hi team,

As Donald Trump muses openly about defying our Constitution and Elon Musk attempts to dismantle entire federal agencies from within, it can be easy to forget about what Republicans are up to in Congress.

Let me give you an update: last week, House Republicans jammed through a bill that would remove tens of millions of Americans from voter rolls across the country. The so-called “SAVE Act” represents a direct assault on the way elections are run — requiring voters to present “documentary proof of United States citizenship” in order to vote. In many cases, even a driver’s license would not be accepted.

This bill is an unacceptable attack on the freedom to vote. Can you please add your name in opposition today? [[link removed]]ADD YOUR NAME » [[link removed]]

This burdensome requirement is dangerous and unnecessary. Repeated studies have shown that voter fraud is virtually nonexistent in this country, and safeguards are already in place to ensure our elections remain safe and secure. The real purpose of this legislation is clear: it would disproportionately impact women, people of color, Native Americans, and the working class.

Voters who changed their name when getting married would need to re-prove their identities by providing a passport (over half of Americans don’t have one) or a complex combination of paper documents. Veterans would no longer be able to register to vote using military IDs, and nonpartisan registration groups would be banned from registering new voters.

The fate of this bill now lies in the Senate — please add your name in opposition today! [[link removed]]

Thanks,

Terri Sewell
