Wishing NY-24 a Blessed Easter Weekend

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.” — Matthew 28:5-6

Happy Easter, NY-24! During this weekend, I am reminded of the words in Matthew 28: “He is not here; He has risen.” This powerful message is a timeless reminder of renewal, resilience, and the promise that the best is yet to come.

As families and friends come together to honor the resurrection of Jesus Christ, may you be filled with peace, joy, and a renewed spirit. Wishing you and your loved ones a joyous Easter filled with hope and blessings.

Introducing Legislation to Expand School Choice

Charter schools have a proven track record of success, working to ensure every student, regardless of zip code, is given the opportunity to succeed. I recently introduced the High-Quality Charter Schools Act, which will provide a tax credit for charitable donations to charter schools to facilitate the development and expand the number of charter schools to offer even more students access to affordable school choices. This legislation could lead to nearly triple the number of children who have the option of attending a charter school. Parents know what is best for their children, and by providing parents with options, we can improve educational outcomes across our country.

Legislation to Counter the anti-Semitic BDS movement

The BDS movement promotes and normalizes anti-Semitism by singling out the world’s only Jewish state by damaging Israel’s economy. I reintroduced the Countering Hate Against Israel by Federal Contractors Act this week to ensure that the United States does not support any entity that engages in or endorses such actions. The legislation bans the federal government from entering into contracts with entities that support the radical, anti-Semitic BDS movement targeting Israel. With over two-thirds of states enacting laws to counter the BDS movement, the federal procurement process must follow these states’ lead by implementing legislation at the national level to ban procurement from entities that engage in this form of anti-Semitism. This will send a clear message that the United States stands firmly against anti-Semitism and remains dedicated to supporting our greatest ally, Israel.

As your representative in Congress, my top priority is championing legislative initiatives that benefit you and your families. Each week, I review numerous bills and letters, engaging in thorough discussions with members of our community to determine which actions to support and address your needs. Below are a few bills I recently cosponsored.

H.R.919, Chronic Disease Flexible Coverage Act - This bill provides statutory authority for guidance from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that expands the types of preventive care that may be offered under a high deductible health plan (HDHP) without requiring a deductible or with a deductible below the minimum threshold. Allowing HDHPs to cover chronic disease prevention pre-deductible will empower patients to effectively manage their chronic conditions, which will improve health outcomes and reduce health care expenses for patients and their employers over the long-term.

H.R. 1820, the FLASH Act: This bill would enhance the construction and access of roads in federal lands along the Southern Border for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Additionally, this allows for greater state and federal cooperation by allowing states to establish barriers along federal lands. This comprehensive bill aims to support CBP and protect federal border lands from the harmful effects of illegal migration.

Recognizing 50 Years Of Outstanding Service by the Farmington Volunteer Fire Association

Our team joined the Farmington Volunteer Fire Association at their annual banquet and celebrated Mr. David Bowe’s 50 years of service. Mr. Bowe is part of a four-generation family of volunteer firefighters that have dedicated their time to protecting our community. Additionally, we recognized Justin Weidenborner for 20 years of service to the Fire Association. I fully support our first responders and am grateful to those who volunteer to serve our community.

Congratulations to Pultneyville Fire Department Chief Kurt Cronin

Congratulations to Pultneyville Chief Kurt Cronin on being selected as Firefighter of the Year. Our team enjoyed attending the Pultneyville Fire Company’s Annual Dinner and presenting a congressional commendation to Chief Cronin. Firefighters play a vital role in our communities and are ready to respond, protect, and serve, no matter the time or conditions. Thank you all for your outstanding dedication to the Pultneyville community!

Celebrating Conesus' Bicentennial

The Town of Conesus recently celebrated its bicentennial at their Town Hall. Our team joined Conesus Historian Brenda Eddy and Town Supervisor Donald Wester and presented a proclamation congratulating the Town on this historic achievement. Formerly named Bowersville, Conesus is located in the beautiful Livingston County and shares multiple historical sites, including the hometown of New York Governor John Young. Thank you to all who came out to celebrate!

Constituent Casework Success Story

A Niagara County constituent needed to travel overseas, but didn't realize his passport was expiring in less than 90 days, and he was due to travel the next week. After contacting my office, our team worked with the Buffalo Passport Office and was able to get him an appointment to renewal of his Passport in less than 24 hours:

"(your staffer) was professional, patient, informative, and thorough. It was a pleasure working with him!"
