Donald Trump’s administration just crossed another dangerous line.
A federal judge ruled there is probable cause to pursue criminal contempt charges against Trump officials — after they willfully violated a court order and deported migrants without due process. These individuals, many of whom are not gang members as falsely claimed, were ripped from the U.S. without a chance to challenge the lies in court.
And what was the response from Trump’s top allies?
A smug “Oopsie…Too late” tweet from Trump’s Secretary of State. Total disrespect for the rule of law and total indifference to human lives.
This is what authoritarianism looks like: defying the courts, deporting people in secret, and cheering about it online. Trump is weaponizing the 1798 Alien Enemies Act, the same law once used to justify internment camps, to push a brutal mass deportation agenda.
We cannot allow this lawless behavior to continue.
