Dear John,
Donald Trump says he wants to be able to arrest and deport U.S. citizens — but promises that he’ll only go after the worst of the worst.
He’s lying. Just like every other dictator in history.
After all, the vast majority of the people already sent by Trump to a mega-prison in El Salvador have no criminal record at all.
Some of them are married to American citizens and have kids, like Kilmar Abrego García, the Maryland father that the Justice Department admitted was deported due to an “administrative error.” They call him a gang member and a terrorist with zero evidence.
Do you think they wouldn’t deport you if you crossed them?
The team at Inequality Media Civic Action is sounding the alarm and mobilizing the public to speak out, but Trump’s assault on our democracy is coming at such a breakneck pace that we need to immediately redouble our efforts.
Will you make a donation to help educate the public, get the truth out, and stop Trump’s assault on our democracy?
If Trump can disappear green card holders for protesting war, he can disappear you.
If he can arrest and imprison visa holders for writing an op-ed in a student newspaper, he can do it to anyone.
If he can deport an asylum seeker because he has an autism awareness tattoo (this actually happened), there are no limits to what he can do to any of us.
We must speak out now before there’s no one left to speak out for anyone.
Thankfully, more and more Americans are speaking out at town hall meetings and grassroots protests, even in red states. At the same time, Democrats like Senators Cory Booker and Chris Van Hollen are using their platforms to call out Trump’s abuses.
Inequality Media Civic Action is at the front lines of these fights, using our platforms on social media to educate the public, get the truth out, and mobilize opposition to Trump’s authoritarian onslaught. But we rely on your donations to power everything we do.
That’s why I’m asking: Will you make a donation to help power Inequality Media Civic Action?
Thank you,
Robert Reich
