VIDEO OF THE DAY: Republican stuns with bombshell confession about Trump
Lisa Murkowski, a sitting Republican senator, said "we're all afraid" of freely speaking out against Donald Trump — because she knows, from experience, that the MAGA cult leader will respond with petty vengeance and irrational retribution. And while every single Republican officeholder is complicit in some way for the catastrophic rise of Trumpism, it is remarkable for any of them to speak up and speak out against the fascist dictator-in-training currently trying to dismantle American democracy. What a timeline we've found ourselves living in.

Trump rewrites history with deranged COVID.gov makeover
The MAGA cult leader on Friday replaced the government’s utilitarian COVID-19 website with a gaudy page that pushes a disputed theory about the virus’ origins. The web address covid.gov no longer features information on vaccines and testing. Now, it takes you to a site that says COVID-19 leaked out of a lab in China, disparages Dr. Anthony Fauci, and accuses the Biden administration of spreading "misinformation." Seriously. While the page presents it as a settled fact that the virus emerged out of an infectious disease lab in Wuhan, China, the case is hardly closed. The so-called lab leak theory has circulated since the early days of the pandemic, because the first cases of the virus were detected in Wuhan. While American intelligence agencies have remained open to the possibility that COVID-19 could have originated from lab research, the claim pushed by some lab leak proponents that it was created as a “biological weapon” has been summarily dismissed. In the land of Trump, none of that is material; it has become abundantly clear that he who shouts the loudest controls the narrative and wins the day.

Marine veteran answers call to resist Trump
JoAnna Mendoza for Congress: JoAnna Mendoza served our country for twenty years as a drill sergeant in the United States Marines, training the brave men and women who defend our country overseas, and now she’s ready to defend our nation from Donald Trump’s extremism in the halls of Congress. As a lifelong public servant, JoAnna refuses to sit idly by while Donald Trump and Elon dismantle the systems that provide for our veterans after their service and send countless more vets to the unemployment line with their gutting of the federal government. Will you chip in to help Joanna flip this winnable red seat and take back control of Congress from the GOP?
All of Trump’s gang claims against wrongfully deported man boil down to one unnamed informant
The Trump regime's insistence the Maryland resident deported to El Salvador by mistake is a member of the criminal gang MS-13 can be traced back to a single unnamed police informant, a review of court documents reveals. Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the 29-year-old construction worker and father of three with no criminal record, was arrested and sent to a notorious mega-prison on March 15, in a decision a Justice Department attorney subsequently conceded was the result of an "administrative error." Abrego Garcia has admitted that he first entered the United States illegally in 2012 but denies having any association with MS-13. The only basis for thinking otherwise comes from a Prince George’s County Police report into Abrego Garcia’s arrest, along with three other men, for "loitering" in the car park of a branch of Home Depot in Hyattsville, Maryland, in March 2019. Abrego Garcia protested that he was simply looking for work and was not ultimately charged with a crime. However, the arresting officer completed a “Gang Field Interview Sheet” in which he noted that Abrego Garcia was wearing clothing "indicative of the Hispanic gang culture." Oh, and an unnamed police informant passed along an unsubstantiated tip that Abrego Garcia was active in New York branch of MS-13, a city where he has never actually lived. That's it. That's the entire case. And now, more than a month later, Abrego Garcia sits in a Salvadoran gulag uncertain when he'll see his wife and children again. It's so good to be great again, eh?

Trump says US will "take a pass" on Ukraine peace deal "if parties make it difficult"
Oh, if "parties" make it difficult? Difficult like Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, who unilaterally invaded a sovereign neighbor more than three years ago, unleashing unspeakable carnage on a European ally, causing hundreds of thousands of casualties on both sides? Or difficult like Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who had more than a slight problem with his country being invaded and suffering mass casualties and widespread destruction? What the hell is Donald even talking about at this point?

Housing secretary let staff go home early for Easter to reflect on Jesus
"We go into this holy weekend with freedoms that the world has never known," reads a department-wide email from Scott Turner’s chief of staff. Uh, if Turner means the freedom to intimidate, discriminate, isolate, dehumanize, and persecute fellow citizens and residents for not subscribing to a very specific, Christian nationalist world view, then perhaps. Otherwise, someone might want let the secretary for Housing and Urban Development know his boss is currently waging a fascist war against long-established politic norms, the most vulnerable among us, and the frickin' United States Constitution.
