** Easter Reflections & A Future of Hope for Hawai‘i
------------------------------------------------------------
From Tamara McKay, State Chair – Hawai‘i Republican Party
Aloha Republican ʻOhana,
This Easter season, we are reminded of the beauty of renewal, the power of sacrifice, and the hope that follows even the darkest moments. As we reflect on Good Friday and celebrate the resurrection on Easter Sunday, we are also called to consider how we, too, can rise,to serve, to lead, and to make a difference.
In that spirit, the Hawai‘i Republican Party has taken a meaningful step forward in helping fill the vacancy left by the late Rep. Gene Ward in District 18, a man who led with heart, conviction, and service to the people of Hawai‘i.
Through a thoughtful and fair process, we have submitted three exceptional individuals to Governor Josh Green for consideration. Each of them brings a unique strength, a servant’s heart, and a commitment to the values that make our state and country strong.
Michel J. (Joe) Gedeon
A successful entrepreneur, Eagle Scout, and lifelong Hawai‘i Kai resident, Joe Gedeon has over 20 years of experience in business, media, and community service. As a co-founder of one of Hawai‘i’s top signage and media firms, he has supported more than 80 political campaigns and built strong civic ties. Joe has served in Rotary leadership, supported youth programs, and worked on statewide conservative media projects. His deep commitment to local values and public service reflect both his roots and readiness to lead.
** Alexander “Alika” M. Malabey
------------------------------------------------------------
A fifth-generation resident of Hawai‘i Kai, Alika is a small business owner, caregiver, and former foster parent with deep community roots and a strong legislative background. Having worked at the State Capitol educating lawmakers on key issues, Alika brings a bold, experienced voice committed to protecting traditional values, supporting local families, and honoring the legacy of leaders like Senator Sam Slom and Rep. Gene Ward. His vision is one of restoration, sustainability, and service grounded in faith and heritage.
** Tara Malia Gregory
------------------------------------------------------------
Tara is a nationally recognized wellness entrepreneur and marketing consultant with a passion for empowering communities and building thriving brands. With a background in cognitive studies and a Master’s in Theology in progress, Tara has led multi-million-dollar organizations, served as a public speaker to audiences across the U.S. and Europe, and coached thousands toward health and purpose. Her heart for people, strong communication skills, and vibrant energy make her a compelling voice for innovation, faith-based leadership, and grassroots engagement in District 18.
As we move forward in this holy season, let us do so with faith in God and in each other. Let us reflect on our shared mission, to build a future rooted in hope, integrity, and service to the people. May we lead with humility, act with courage, and never forget why we do what we do.
Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed Good Friday and a Happy Easter.
With aloha and gratitude,
Tamara McKay
