John, they’re not just banning books. They’re banning ideas.

Across the country, Republican extremists are ripping powerful stories off library shelves, defunding vital local libraries, and stripping school curriculums of important history.

They say it’s about “protecting kids.” But you and I both know that it’s about control – control over whose stories get told, whose history gets erased, and whose existence is seen as “acceptable” for their agenda.

(All while they claim to be proponents of small government.)

Because if young people read stories about women breaking barriers, the perspective of LGBTQ+ characters, or hard truths about what people of color have faced throughout history – they might just grow up to challenge hate, not fall in line with it.

As the daughter of a librarian, I was an avid reader from the time I could hold a book. I learned early on that knowledge is power, and censorship is fear in disguise.

If you believe every kid deserves to see themselves in the pages of a book – and to learn about people who are different from them – please chip in anything you can to help Speak Up PAC fight back against Republican extremism >>
